“It has to be sexy and an upgrade from my current bike otherwise I see no reason to buy another bike, also there is a squeak we can’t get rid of”
Below is what she ended up with. This is not 2nd hand but it is a 2017 Tom Boonan special edition S-Works Roubaix with future shock, Di2, Ultegra and carbon disc wheels.
I found this bike while chatting to the shop owner enquiring on a 48cm Cannondale they had advertised on the Hub. We got chatting about other things and somehow we ended up chatting about this. “This” was just a frame at the time…
I said to Janet, if you’re gonna upgrade then I feel there is a trifecta of things that would constitute an upgrade: sexy looking or unique frame, electric gears (optional but nice to have), carbon wheels (essential) or disc wheels (optional). We actually never discussed her budget upfront (or at least we didn’t have a discussion on a limit of budget)… I know, what every salesperson want to hear… so I wasn’t actually sure how many of those things we could obtain. Turns out we managed to check ALL those boxes.
This was big money (in bicycle terms) but probably still about 30% less of what this would have gone for. Did we get lucky? Perhaps. Is the client happy she spent this? I believe wholeheartedly! Enjoy Janet!
