Under 10k, Hardtail

So. Originally I had an idea to show you all “new bike and client smiling and enjoying their new purchase” in one photo and tag and brag. However, it may be irresponsible of me (especially when the price tag gets in the R60k to R100k territory) to show new bike with new owner for the world to see/scam/steal. So, under that premise, I’m just gonna talk about the bike and the sales story so you can identify when you may be a Concierge client. Cool?

Under 10k, Hardtail. This client, let’s call him Bob. Bob asked out loud in wattbike class one morning “hey Martin, what mtb would you recommend under R10k?!” luckily my wife was in earshot and she remembered what she was asked to do when she heard that question and piped up (between heavy breathing, yes I realise how naughty that sounds) “You need to speak to my hubby before you do anything!”
Bob wasn’t to commit to mtb’ing so he didn’t want too much that could go wrong. Also Bob is early 20s on a life budget. I managed to find him a light, aluminium, dual suspension mtb for R10k but he didn’t want that. Via FB this Momsen AL129 became available. It was R5450. Bob was delighted. I went to go check it out. And yes, while it was heavy and entry-level, it wasn’t used much (the story of old lady, didn’t ride much seemed to fit). It probably was a R10k bike when it was new. Gears needed indexing, rear hub needed a service (both I facilitated). Bob came to pick up his new bike a few days later. This process probably took 2 weeks. I don’t think Bob has ridden his Momsen yet…
